Looks like something lit a fire at Sega recently. Not only are we getting Sonic CD (see previous article) for Xbox Live Arcade but now they are announcing that Virtual Fighter 5: Final Showdown will hit the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.
“Sega today announced Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a summer 2012 release window. Described as an update and expansion to previous versions of the game, Final Showdown will debut as a stand-alone downloadable title on both systems. In addition to new modes, arenas, and customizable character items, the game will add two more combatants to the game’s roster. Virtua Fighter veterans will welcome the return of Virtua Fighter 3 sumo wrestler Taka-Arashi, while those eager to try out a new style can look forward to the debut of Jean Kujo.”
However not everything is peachy as Gamespot reports. While there will be a single player mode, there will be no spectator or tournament modes. That’s really unexpected especially since this is a fighter and in 2011 it’s really sad that they decided to go this route, especially with Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter 4 do.
